ABSTRACT
Over the years the authorities in England perceived a need for appropriate legislation to control the ownership and use of firearms from as far back as the sixteenth century. The Firearms Act 1968 is currently regarded as the Principal Act; this in turn has been added to and amended a great deal by subsequent legislation designed to tighten up controls further.
