ABSTRACT
In the preceding chapters, there have been occasional references to relevant features of research, sometimes giving brief explanations of particular features of an investigation, but, in general, the references have been largely concerned with ways in which teachers can conduct investigations in their own classrooms without having to invest too much time and energy in setting up well-controlled investigations. It is, however, quite possible, given appropriate time for planning, for teachers to set up well-controlled investigations in their own classrooms, the results of which would be well worthy of publication in an academic journal. In this chapter, we aim to give you the necessary information to be able to undertake such a project. Less ambitious readers should fi nd that reading through the chapter helps put our previous research comments into a more complete context.
