ABSTRACT
It is difficult to pick up a catalog of beauty aids these days and not find a section of it devoted to various preparations containing jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) oil. Shampoos are most common, but various kinds of creams and lotions containing the "rare oil used by American Indians for hundreds of years as a cosmetic and medicinal aid" are also offered. Just what is this mysterious substance that seems to have become popular during the last two decades?
