ABSTRACT
Among states active and interested in the Korean Peninsula, China has recently enjoyed the closest relations with both North and South. China has sought to retain the political benefits it sees in continuing close party-to-party relations with Pyongyang, while exploiting new economic opportunities with Seoul through the rapid development of bilateral trade and investment.
