ABSTRACT

The history of Nazi victims' unclaimed assets in Switzerland is a history of neglected responsibilities, accompanied by a recurrent and forceful media debate that comes and goes in cycles, invariably prompting the political authorities or the asset managers to take measures (which later prove inadequate). Public awareness, however, has been shaped by the much longer periods of silence, concealment and fading memories.
