The purpose of this chapter is to review and assess rational choice theory as it applies to corporate crime. Two main questions will guide us in this task: (1) how is our understanding of corporate offending enhanced
through the rational choice model and (2) what are the unique challenges to this model posed by the organizational (or corporate) context? In order to pursue these questions, we must first define corporate crime.
