ABSTRACT
A positive self-esteem is an essential requirement for effective learning and if ‘the project of inclusion is a political and social struggle to enable the valuing of difference and identity’ (Corbett and Slee 2000), then our classrooms become the central stage for this process of valuing all pupils. We do this by valuing their contributions to the community – the classroom – that we manage.
