ABSTRACT

Traditionally, situations like this have led to pupils with special educational needs sitting on the sidelines, or worse still in the library, during PE lessons. These and many more children, unimpressed by traditional approaches and activities, have simply disengaged with physical activity as a result. However, departmental limitations need no longer constrain a school's ability to offer a positive experience in PE and sport for youngsters of all abilities. Today, an ethos of partnership, collaboration and co-operation means that the school gates need no longer mark the boundary of a pupil's educational world.
