ABSTRACT
DESCRIBING FORCES The development of ideas about forces often takes place in the context of learning about horizontal motion or about gravity and falling. Consequently a lot of the research into pupils' thinking about forces relates to these domains. Research into pupils' ideas about forces causing horizontal motion and about friction is summarised in Chapter 22. Research into pupils' ideas about weight and falling is summarised in Chapter 23.
