ABSTRACT

John M. Keller is an associate professor in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation at Syracuse University. Dr. Keller's work has centered on aspects of instructional systems design, with a special emphasis on problems of motivation and human performance in instructional settings. His research includes a number of published studies in specific areas of motivation including locus of control and learned helplessness. Currently, he is completing a handbook of motivational strategies for use by course designers and instructors. The handbook is based on the model described in the present book. It has been used in both the public schools and military training with positive results. Dr. Keller is a frequent consultant to schools, corporations, and the military.
