ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at display and the classroom which are important elements in creating an environment which supports both creative teaching and learning. The majority of classrooms have lively displays of children’s work. Mathematics, however, is often last on the list for display. Although in many schools/settings this has become a task undertaken by teaching assistants rather than teachers, planning the displays should still be part of the teacher’s role to create this stimulating environment for the learners including the adults. This chapter looks at why display of mathematics is important for developing children’s creative thinking skills.
