ABSTRACT

Transparency is today one of the hype buzzwords in nearly every realm of social life. In corporate boardrooms, in financial trading rooms as well as in government offices, transparency is now a goal and ‘a must’. The notion of transparency also influences working life: companies promote the use of the open-floor office organization (where people do not have separate, closed offices), they make employees’ calendars available to colleagues by posting them on servers, and promote diverse technical means whereby employees can exchange information. We also insist upon transparency in family relationships and in our love life. Parents should be forthright with their children and spouses should have no secrets from one another.
