ABSTRACT
The first unabridged translation of the Grundrisse into French was published in two volumes in 1967-8. This translation, by Roland Dangeville, was based on the German version of 1953 and printed by Anthropos publishers with the title Fondements de la critique de l’économie politique [Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy], but later received negative appraisals from specialists. In fact, it contained little philological information on Marx’s manuscripts, and did not respect the semantics of the text, characterised by many references to the conceptual apparatus of its Hegelian roots.
