ABSTRACT

Oxcarbazepine, 10-keto analog of carbamazepine, is indicated for the treatment of partial seizures with and without secondary generalization. There are data on the use of oxcarbazepine in patients with bipolar, schizoaffective, and schizophrenia-related disorders [13]. Macdonald and Kelly [14] suggested that its similarity in structure and clinical efficacy to carbamazepine suggests that its mechanism of action is similar to that of carbamazepine.
