ABSTRACT

Writing about statistical analyses is a common task for public administrators and other types of quantitative analysts. Results of such analyses inform decisions of government and nonprofit agencies every day, included in documents such as research papers, grant proposals, policy briefs, consultant’s reports, and oral presentations. Despite this apparently widespread need, few people are

specialists learn to write for varied audiences, but rarely are taught to deal with statistical analyses. Quantitative researchers learn to calculate statistics and interpret the findings, but rarely are taught to describe them in ways that are comprehensible to readers with different levels of quantitative expertise or interest.
