ABSTRACT

A Lean enterprise is agile and adaptable; every individual and team throughout the organization possess situational fluency, quickly and naturally responding to changing circumstances with effective problem solving and decision making. Develop within the management team a clear understanding of the importance of a Lean management system, and leader standard work, particularly repeatable behavior, accountability, and cadence. Teams should be able to easily understand the intent of the roadmap, quickly making adjustments in response to new facts and circumstances. The roadmap must also adapt to an irregular pace and imbalanced acceptance, since some elements of the organization are usually faster than others to adopt Lean thinking and change their behavior. Create a high-level visual roadmap showing the steps of the transformation, and how they engage the various parts of the organization over time. When information systems naturally reflect Lean thinking, there is a continuous systemic reinforcement of Lean behavior throughout all workflows and information flows.
