ABSTRACT
Like Ÿngerprints, no two people’s handwriting is exactly alike. Experts in handwriting analysis can compare known samples of an individual’s handwriting to unknown sources of handwriting, such as that on a forged check, credit card receipt, or threatening note, and determine if they came from the same source. Experts can also determine if a signature on a document is authentic, forged, or traced. When handwritten documents are found to be evidence in a case, they should be properly collected and preserved, and it should be considered whether handwriting analysis may be of beneŸt to the investigation.
