Interviewing is oen seen as the most complex and the most intense piece of investigating. When interviewing moves into interrogation, it can be the most stressful part of investigating, as much hope for the nal outcome of a case rests with the interrogator and his skills. Interviews and interrogations are dynamic, which adds to the excitement of being in the investigative hot seat. When things go as planned, interviewing and interrogating can also be most rewarding to an ocer. ese endeavors are not scientic; they are mostly art form. Some ocers excel at investigating; others stand out at interviewing. ose not naturally gied at interviewing can hone their skills. is chapter is intended to assist interviewers at all skill levels.
