Evaluation and Protection of Vein Pattern Recognition Systems
True performance of a biometric system must be independently determined through a series of formal and controlled tests. Many biometric vendors claim to have a false acceptance rate that purports exceptionally low numbers, but they often do so without a third-party certification of that claim as derived by appropriate statistical tests. Such claims sometimes lack validity. By the same token, the actual performance of a biometric system is based on a set of many diverse factors from the operational environment to the cooperation of the users.
