ABSTRACT

We live in the midst of rapidly expanding knowledge, which often seems to be very close to complete if not actually so. As a result of the Human Genome Project, we know that 46 human chromosomes house almost 3 billion chemical base pairs of DNA and that human DNA contains about 30,000 protein-encoding genes that govern virtually all aspects of human biology. We know how to organize and store this information to learn how to more effectively diagnose and treat diseases.
