ABSTRACT

The primary image capture device is still the silver-based 35-mm (SLR) camera capable of manual override, interchangeable lenses, off-camera flash, and tripod mount. Technical developments in the field of video recording have gone from analog VHS to 8-mm formats, to Super VHS and High video 8. Beta SP and MII formats are professional-broadcast quality, the best analog formats available, and the least used at autopsy. Digital video quality varies; the high end is better than analog systems. Video cameras should have the ability to disable on-camera audio when used during autopsies. One of the advantages of certain digital video cameras is the ability to take infrared images/photographs without having to add special lenses.
