ABSTRACT

Prior to September 11, 2001 the terms “terrorist,” “terrorism,” and “terrorist activity” were reserved for “other” countries and third-world locations struggling for an identity. This was especially true in the United States and the rest of the Western world or hemisphere. However, this perception could not have been further from the truth. Although only a country for over 225 years, the United States, just like many other countries, was born through the “revolutionary acts” of ordinary people. While viewed as revolutionary acts by citizens, according to modern definitions of terrorism those acts could be seen as terrorist activity today.
