ABSTRACT

When we say process-oriented thinking means what before how, we mean that understanding

what

work needs to be done comes first and is the key to determining customer value. Understanding

how

to best do the work with a new machine or tool comes next. Exploring how to use new enablers is one way to improve processes. When process performance is improved, the process result is improved. Ignoring the process reduces the chance for improved results, and ignoring the results runs the risk of missing new ideas and innovations.
