ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the focus will be placed on why the Internet has had such a roller coaster ride when it offers so much promise in terms of improving the processing that occurs across an efficient flow of products, information, and finances. We will cut through the hype surrounding the dot-com crash and consider how the real cyber revolution is about changing the way business should operate and how a few of the industry leaders are tapping into this new technology to enhance business performance. And we will draw some logical conclusions based on what the leaders are accomplishing, while taking advantage of what will be one of the most important changes to affect business processing. Mostly, we will clear up the confusion behind the next supply chain mistake — misunderstanding the Internet.
