ABSTRACT
Asphyxia is the loss of consciousness as the result of too little oxygen and, often, too much carbon dioxide in the blood. In current forensic medicine, asphyxia is the general term that encompasses a variety of conditions that have been traditionally thought of as having some defect in the uptake and/or utilization of oxygen.
