ABSTRACT

Marijuana has consistently remained one of the economic staples in the illegal drug business. Because marijuana grows in almost all 50 states, domestic cultivation also contributes greatly to the nation’s overall drug problem. Marijuana cultivation has proven to be a relatively easy-entry illicit market. All that is required for a simple growing operation is seeds, a water source, land, and a willingness to enter into a criminal enterprise, which in some states can result in a prison term as long as 25 years.
