ABSTRACT

Brian Michael Jenkins has had over 40 years of experience researching terrorism-many of which involved working for the research organization RAND-and his conclusion is the same as it has been for many past years. Unless we address the root causes, terrorism will not go away. We have the capacity and knowledge to impede terrorist-related activity and, in this late hour, it is time to žnally gather what we know and do something astounding with it. Understanding the purpose of rehabilitation, which directly complements counterinsurgency and information operations, and how the proper use of each method can ultimately transform individuals, as well as a society, should be the concern of every individual desiring an end to the countless number of violent activities and horrižc deaths resulting from terrorist-related activity.
