ABSTRACT
Intensity is the soul of lean production, and team members are its heart. I had experienced intensity before I got to Toyota-the intensity of continual firefighting. Indeed, in many organizations people are valued according to their firefighting ability. Toyota’s intensity is a different thing altogether.
