ABSTRACT

In writing this book I decided to consider that various persons involved in di„erent disciplines within police services-ranging from experienced crime scene investigators (CSIs) with an MSc in forensic science to patrol o«cers who, as part of their role, from time to time must carry out crime scene examinations-may refer to the text. For this reason, this chapter is quite extensive but pitched at a level to make it of practical use to scene examiners while, at the same time, perhaps giving some forensic background to those involved in intelligence-led policing.
