ABSTRACT

In the UK, the National Intelligence Model (NIM) was adopted in 2000 in order to advance a concept called intelligence-led policing (ILP), which is currently ongoing. In 2011, the US government was looking at possibilities of bringing in the concept of intelligence-led policing. To give some background on intelligence-led policing in the United States, the US National Institute for Justice (NIJ) published a paper,27 ‘Crime Analysis in America,’ written by the Centre for Public Policy, University of Alabama, in 2002, but still relevant today.
