Question 4—What Is the Interval?

The concept of the interval is key in applying Lean thinking. In mixed model production the concept of the interval plays a much stronger role. It is essential not only that we fully understand this concept, but that the people on the shopfloor talk in terms of the interval when discussing the progress of their Lean implementation. In fact, the length of the current interval should be a key metric to measure progress in their Lean journey.
