ABSTRACT

Fundamental to a discussion of interrogation is an understanding of why people choose to confess. We have chosen to limit our comments on confession to simple understandable reasons, rather than to use complex psychological terminology. The decision to confess may be a simple or complex decision for suspects, depending on their emotional and psychological makeup. Undoubtedly, some might not even be able to give a reason that they chose to confess. However, there seem to be some common reasons that people have confessed.
