ABSTRACT

One of the main benefits of a network video system is the ability to mix and match and select the most appropriate components from different vendors. In addition, the system can be scaled to virtually any size. This flexibility and scalability mean that good knowledge about all the different components and how they interact is required. Selecting the right camera and properly installing and protecting it are, therefore, essential. Meanwhile, the appropriate network and storage solutions depend greatly on the selected cameras, the camera settings (e.g., resolution, compression, and frame rate) and the number of cameras.
