ABSTRACT

Today’s criminal justice cases are ever increasing in complexity, and daily advances in the science of forensics and the technology used in its analysis have also become extremely complicated. The major function of the forensic epidemiologist is to advise individuals, attorneys, and juries of the meaning, significance, and limitations of the forensic evidence in cases involving a death or other types of criminal cases. The role of the forensic epidemiologist as either a consultant or as an expert witness functions as a bridge between the scientific community and the legal community.
