ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the basic analytical schemes used to identify controlled substances. The goal is to provide a basic understanding of the analytical process by briefly discussing each step in the sequence along with tables containing generic step-bystep procedures. The last section briefly discusses the controlled substance section’s role in the investigation of clandestine laboratories and the prosecution of the persons who manufacture controlled substances.
