ABSTRACT

Briefl y, the subinterval method divides a single run into equal time subintervals, each representing an observation. In the replication method, each run represents an observation. DEEDS allows the implementation of both methods through the use of control statements that defi ne the Number of Observations, the Run Length, and the Transient Period. Th e parameters are on the InitialModel spreadsheet as shown in Figure 10.1. By defi nition, lapsed time for each observation is

Run Length − Transient Period

_________________________ Number of Observations

Recall from Section 4.4, the transient period is the initial warm-up period at the start of a run. Th e default values for Run Length, Number of Observations, and Transient Period are infi nity, 1, and 0, respectively. In either case, Observation 0 output corresponds to data collected during the transient period.
