ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces a modern variant on the CPTED theme explored elsewhere in this book— Second-Generation CPTED. We ignore the facts of unsafe neighborhoods in our efforts to make them safer. We send in the police, take out the offenders, and tinker at the edges by modifying physical conditions that create opportunities for crime.
