ABSTRACT
Introduction The 1964 Alaskan earthquake, which lasted for an unusually long three minutes, rocked numerous towns, including large cities like Anchorage and smaller more remote areas in Kenai . A significant portion of downtown Anchorage collapsed, including commercial stores, an apartment building,
and several schools . Decades later, uplift from the earthquake can still be seen in parts of Anchorage, including an earthquake park .
