ABSTRACT

In Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice becomes lost, only to happen upon a Cheshire Cat sitting on a tree branch. “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” inquires Alice. “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” responds the Cat. “I don’t much care where,” replies Alice. “Then it doesn’t matter much where you go,” reasons the Cat. “So long as I get somewhere,” Alice added. “Oh, you’re sure to do that, if you only walk long enough,” the Cat said grinning.
