ABSTRACT

Interest in organizational commitment has intensified in recent years (e.g., Babalola et al., 1996; Irving et al., 1997; Lee et al., 2001; Babalola, 2003). is has resulted in this concept being openly accepted as one of the indices through which employees’ productivity could be measured. Mowday et al. (1982) have suggested that gaining a greater understanding of the processes related to organizational commitment has implications for employees, organizations, and society as a whole. It has therefore been suggested that research efforts on organizational commitment should be intensified.
