ABSTRACT
Under the terms of the arrangement between the MOD and the Home O²ce, all items that may be of interest to the investigator are submitted to the forensic scientist for their examination. In addition, FEL carries out research for the Home O²ce to support forensic explosives operations. FEL also provides an explosives chemical analysis service for various customers and undertakes work for the MOD and other government departments (OGDs) related to explosives forensics within military operational theatres, or in relation to events overseas as appropriate. As a completely independent laboratory, FEL is also able to provide the same impartial service to act in a commercial capacity for companies, and for solicitors on behalf of the defendant, should there be no con˜ict of interests in the same case.
