ABSTRACT
A special set of close-up photographs that can be absolutely critical to an investigation is known as the Examination Quality Photographs. These images will be compared to real evidence to make an identification. The most common types of examination quality photographs include:
Fingerprint impressions• Footwear and tire wear impressions• Tool marks• Bite marks• Bloodstain patterns•
Although not a comprehensive list of potential image compositions, the importance of the types of evidence listed above is obvious. Comparisons can be used to individualize a piece of evidence and thereby be the lynchpin in a criminal trial. Therefore, the importance of capturing a sharp-focused, well-illuminated, accurately composed image is crucial. As with other forms of crime scene photography, lighting, depth of field and especially perspective play a crucial role in the close-focusing efforts of comparison photographs.
