ABSTRACT

The workplace is —lled with scandals, for sure. ”ere is no shortage of misbehavior or lies that comes to light and causes temporary uproars, large and small. People are sometimes asked to —nd other jobs when their behavior is seen as indefensible or intolerable. ”ere are those who treat others in unprofessional ways, sometimes making prejudiced and near-slanderous statements. ”ere are those who embarrass the organization through their work or conduct. ”ere are people who exaggerate or lie on their résumés. ”ere are those who shamelessly use other’s work for self-promotion. ”ere are people who use sexual relations, intimidation, and blackmail to get ahead. ”ere are some who misrepresent their expenses on their invoices. People promote themselves in all kinds of ways, and scandals ensue when these acts of dishonest or improper conduct come to light. Becoming embroiled in these matters is very bad for one’s reputation and, at times, even career ending.
