ABSTRACT
Introduction In both the Preface and Introduction, we emphasized that the overall system (see Figure 1.1) of healthcare in the United States is the “best” in the world. However, we also pointed out that there are areas where improvement may be implemented. ˜ese areas are in four categories: (1) occurrence of errors or mistakes in delivery of treatment, (2) the recognition of the uninsured, (3) cost of delivery of healthcare, and (4) eŽciency.
