ABSTRACT
A Family Assistance Center (FAC) should be established immediately after a mass fatalities incident to provide a safe and private location for families to gather (Figure 3.1). A FAC needs to be a “safe place” where families can provide authorities with information that may assist in locating and identifying their missing family member(s), attend daily briengs from ofcials regarding the progress of the investigation and the recovery process, receive emotional and physical support, and,

as needed, receive the ofcial notication of death from the Medical Examiner.
