ABSTRACT

Human and animal interaction for thousands of years coupled with domestication of certain species has led to increased productivity, selective social benet, and most would agree the betterment of the human condition. Yet that cooptation has led to negative consequences as well, including both provoked and accidental physical confrontation resulting in potential injury, death, and legal ramications. e sheer numbers of bites alone are impressive with 4.7 million dog bites, 400,000 cat bites, 45,000 snake bites, and 250,000 human bites annually in the United States (Healthy Children.org, 2012).
