ABSTRACT

Training is necessary for employees, supervisors, and the staff members of each office that may be involved in responding to an incident of workplace violence. All employees should also be provided with phone numbers for quick reference during a crisis or an emergency. Providing appropriate training informs employees that management will take threats seriously, encourages employees to report incidents, and demonstrates management’s commitment to deal with reported incidents. Depending on the circumstances of the violence, there are several consequences that result from an incident of workplace violence. The law on unintended consequences can have a positive effect on the productivity of a business when a protective agent’s presence is “high profile”. The protective agent should brief the company management regarding security issues and proper mindset. The purpose of the executive committee is to establish policies and goals for the workplace violence prevention and response plan.
