For example, preserving the service time sequence for a given workload is problematic when comparing a current system with a new system designed to perform identical tasks in less time. In such a case, the workload must be characterized using tables to de›ne tasks. Tasks are then translated to system service times. However, the same random number sequence preserves the basic features of service time.
