ABSTRACT
For these reasons, much research has focused on developing technologies that correct, enhance, and supplement vision and many of these have been further adapted for surveillance activities. Spectacles improve our eyesight, microscopes and telescopes enable us to see farther or more clearly, night-vision helps us to see in low-light conditions, cameras help us monitor activities in locations we cannot easily or quickly reach, and protective suits and vehicles enable us to move about and observe in hazardous areas. To supplement this ‘enhanced vision’, we have developed recording devices that enable us to store and review visual images.
