ABSTRACT
Is Lean Product Development the only path to the mastery of innovation? I said in Chapter 1 that Lean Product Development encompassed a
broad range of practices and philosophies, all geared to maximize value and minimize waste. Toyota’s production system is justiably the model for Lean manufacturing. In product development, Toyota also had some great ideas, especially the way that systematic problem solving expressed itself in Toyota’s development centers. However, product developers need to look beyond Toyota to other companies that have developed their own ways to maximize value and minimize waste in product development.
